  • High ranking conference in Istanbul for developing the East West Transport Corridor

    The vice transport ministers of Turkey and Lithuania, other government representatives and business actors were among the almost 100 participants who attended the conference in Istanbul on March 28th. The main theme was the inclusion of Turkey into the successful, intermodal shuttle service Viking, which operates between Lithuania and the Black Sea. It is said that the Viking constitutes the backbone of the EWTC, serving as a best practice when it comes to multi-level governance of transport chains, cross border harmonization and collaborative business schemes.

  • EWTC II Midterm Evaluation Final Report has been finalized

    The consultant firm Ramboll that have conducted the Midterm Evaluation of the EWTC II project has finalized the final report. The aim of the evaluation has been to analyze the project implementation so far to give recommendations for improvements to the project management.

  • Second Green Corridors Stakeholder Forum held in Gdansk

    In conjunction to the Baltic Development Forum and the Annual Forum on the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region, the 2nd Green Corridors Stakeholders Forum was held the 24th of October. The Forum was arranged in cooperation between the three Interreg projects EWTC II, TransBaltic and Scandria as well as the Swedish Ministry of Enterprise, Energy and Communications.

  • Top placement at Swedish Green Corridor demonstration day

    The East West Transport Corridor II project, co-financed by the EU and led by Region Blekinge, participated together with project partner NetPort.Karlshamn at a national demonstration day for green transport in Gothenburg, Sweden on the 22nd of September. Part of the project was judged to be among the top three initiatives to make freight transports more sustainable.

  • Draft report - Purpose, definition and vision for Green Transport Corridors

    A draft report that explores the purpose, definition and vision for Green Transport Corridors in Europe has been published under the direction of the Danish Transport Authority and NetPort.Karlshamn. The report is part of the ongoing work within the East West Transport Corridor project on developing a manual to guide and identify the basic elements, which constitutes a green transport corridor compared to a traditional transport corridor.

  • First report on Truck Parking Strategy for the East West Transport Corridor

    As a part of the project task 6D, development of an intelligent truck parking concept, the first report has now been published. It is the first step towards meeting the needs from both industry and society and map how Intelligent Transport Systems and Services (ITS) can be a tool to facilitate for drivers and help them comply with driving and rest time regulations, thus also contributing to a more efficient traffic flow in the transport corridor.

  • EWTC Association meeting was held in Klaipeda and Karlshamn

    Port of Klaipeda and Karlshamn Municipality was on the 8th to the 9th of November hosts for an East West Transport Corridor Association Meeting. The meeting was held to e.g. familiarize the members of the Association with the transport corridor and the Swedish transport market. At the meeting participated representatives from e.g. Lithuania, Russia and China. Participating from the Swedish industry were representatives from H & M, Volvo, Tetra Laval, Green, and local transport and logistics businesses.

    The first year of the project has passed with the end of MS2. Therefore, EWTC II Partners met on September 23-24 in Schwerin, the capital of the German federal state Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, to discuss and evaluate the advancements of the project so far.     Representatives from China, Denmark, France, Germany, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Mongolia, Russia, Sweden and Ukraine, met in Vilnius the 29th of June to constitute the East West Transport Corridor Association. The EWTC Association will be responsible for the long-term management of the East West TC.

    Ministers from the Danish and Swedish Governments met in Limhamn on June 15th to mark the tenth anniversary of the inauguration of the Oresund Bridge. The continued development and integration of the area was on the agenda and the East West Transport Corridor was discussed.

  • Work on information broker has started

    The procurement process for the information broker in the EWTC II project has been finalized. The project will be managed by the company Info24 in Sweden. The digital information broker will strongly contribute to the streamlining of transports by transport companies, ports, researchers and authorities, thus creating cross-border services and reducing the negative environmental impact of transports.
